The Idea

theMOVE organizes farm-volunteer workdays for urban groups across Metro Boston, to connect participants hands-on with fresh food and with the labor and land that sustain us. These connections serve as a key point of inspiration for healthy, just, sustainable living.

The Specifics

theMOVE would use the GOOD Maker grant to bring 50 more youth on trips with us this year, by making possible 3 additional farm workday trips with low-income groups.

We organize trips from start to finish — coordinating with local farms, arranging transportation, overseeing the work, running the reflections — and we do so with folks that usually can’t afford to pay for the cost of the trip. We also heavily outreach within our local communities to find folks who have never thought to step out onto a farm before. As a young organization, we’re building up our pool of resources to ensure that these opportunities are available to all.
