PACES Day is a national movement to encourage families to get moving, have fun and be healthy. It is also an opportunity for parents to model healthy behavior for their children while enjoying the day at a local community park.
On PACES Day volunteers from local universities and volunteer groups will be stationed throughout Max Brandon Park in Flint, Michigan. Each volunteer will facilitate activities for all ages such as jump rope, hop-scotch, relay races, interactive storytelling, basketball, balancing games, yoga and hula hooping contest. Local teams will give demonstrations of competitive jump roping and stepping and a local radio station will provide promotion and entertainment on site. Posters with fun trivia facts will be posted along the park trail and healthy snacks will be provided. Funds will be used to purchase equipment for activities, reimburse competitive teams for travel, refreshments and promotional materials.
